by Deidra Ramsey "Music Soothes the Savage Breast..." So the saying goes... To calm your nerves, take a little 9-to-5 breather that's not a dreadful midi or an .mpeg. Put your musical talents to the test with PanJava. Trinidadians invented the Pan, sometimes called the Steel Drum or Steel Pan instrument, this century from the remains of old oil drums from American companies like Amoco. Today, the instrument has come to symbolize all of the Caribbean and pan musicians host competitions throughout the world. The PanJava website has been around for awhile. It's fun but a little challenging. If your nerves are really tweaked, you'd probably be better relaxed by sitting back and enjoying a midi! PanJava is slow loading and quite likely to crash your browser not to mention your computer! However, if you do not have many applications running in the background, have the latest browser, a 56k modem or better, and a little luck, you can play and record your own songs from the java appelet pan instrument!! PanJava - a little slow and temperamental, just like the web you knew a few years ago! Fun. Fun. Fun. http://tradepoint.tidco.co.tt/panjava/ What's the future of music and the internet? Discuss this and the PanJava website in jukeForums. |
