Women are doing it for themselves.
As did one Iranian woman from California who launched Zan (Woman), after her desire to publish an anthology on Iranian women fell on the deaf ears of several print publishers.
Zan's mission is to educate the world about the diversity of Iranian women and to provide a forum for Iranian women to network with one another.
The site contains networking information on professional women; poetry, literature and art from Iranian women, news, a chat room, a calendar of events, and links to related websites on women and Iran.
