The purpose of Red Ibis, or redIbis if you prefer, is two-fold.
It is a website where people of color, be they African, African American, Asian, Caribbean, Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, or whomever, in or interested in internet technology can network and learn from one another. Whether you are a free-lance website designer or a programmer at a Silicon Valley website, this is your home. Come share dynamic HTML tips, find business partners, seek new media mentors, share job leads, etc.
In its secondary aspect, Red Ibis is also a place where folks may share their commonalities and explore their differences culturally, professionally, and socially. Our vision is that Red Ibis evolves into a home away from home as well as a new frontier for learning. Sounds oxymoronic, we know. But, we think it's possible.
So, I guess, now you are thinking, "Wow, that's a immense task, being the central online networking station for all those people." Our answer: "You're right. But, we're up for the challenge and it's already long overdue."
